Upward Youth Life Skills Program: The Upward Youth class is a GED preparation class that was specifically designed to address the varied needs of out of school youth ages 16-25. It’s already been proven that standard educational models do not work for these students (they did, after all, drop out of high school). So the Literacy Project feels it’s time to give them the opportunity to find another way. Our G.E.D. classes are geared toward those persons who need a more individually guided class, rather than the standard classroom where a teacher lectures, and students take notes. This is a perfect reintroduction to learning for the out of school youth in our community. The Upward Youth classes meet 5 days a week for 3 hours per day and address all five areas of the standard GED test. |
